John Cleese of the acclaimed troupe Monty Python shocked Britain’s bien-pensant establishment in May last year when he decried that “London wasn’t an English city anymore”. His tweet would’ve not made a NYT headline but for the actor’s erstwhile sympathy for the LibDems, and along with his Brexit vote in 2016, a Twitter mob arose blasting Cleese’s change of heart as the degenerescence of a grumpy white male — including London mayor, the “face of multicultural Britain” Sadiq Khan.
